I have 3 baby chicks one and two weeks old. They get very loud at night in the food bowl. Is it okay to take away the food at night so they will be quiet so I can sleep? Or do they need food 24/7?

Short answer: yes, you can, but they won't like it much.I have 3 baby chicks one and two weeks old. They get very loud at night in the food bowl. Is it okay to take away the food at night so they will be quiet so I can sleep? Or do they need food 24/7?
How and where are you brooding your chicks?I have 3 baby chicks one and two weeks old. They get very loud at night in the food bowl. Is it okay to take away the food at night so they will be quiet so I can sleep? Or do they need food 24/7?
Just normal peep sounds as far as I know. It's not a panic peep just chatter between them. I took the bowl up last night and they seemed a little quieter because they like to get in it and scratch and peep very loud excitement. How and where are you brooding your chicks?
My thoughts - if chicks have light 24/7, they should have food/water 24/7. Even if you take away food and they have light - they are going to be up at all hours.
What kind of noise are they making that is keeping you awake? Are they peeping loudly at night or just making normal chick sounds?
Funny! One minute they're very loud, next minute they're asleep. Not under standing "regular heated for humans" ... If you're meaning the heating pad, yes that's what I use. Reading the article on MHP (Mother Heating Pad) by Blooie, gives you her experience with it and "construction", along with other ideas other have come up with. They'll get louder as they get older![]()
