I looked outside my back doors to see my chickens eating a raw egg with no shell or membrane can't figure out what chicken that is laying these eggs. We have two chickens left that are not laying which are about 17 weeks old.

last week we found a soft shell and earlier this week with no shell but now an egg with no shell and no membrane.

We give them food scraps, mealworms they are on layer feed which does get oyster shells mixed into it.

My guess is they quickly ate the membrane. Eggs with no shells is generally because they push them out before the shell gets applied. All chickens will consume cracked or shell-less eggs.

I wouldn't mix the oyster shells into the layer ration. It's best to offer some a separate bowl, and they will consume them as needed.

Later ration is generally formulated to be fed as the sole ration. Be careful feeding extra stuff that may lower the overall daily protein consumption.
