Non-APA/ABA Large Fowl Hen Show

2025 BYC Summer Fair
Ends on August 24th, 2025

This show is for bantam hens not recognized by the APA (American Poultry Association) or the ABA (American Bantam Association).

Since there is no Standard of Perfection (SOP) for these birds, this contest will be judged based on the overall condition of the birds and the quality of the photos. Clear, focused, well-lit photos of a well-posed bird in good condition will score higher.

Although we will not be judging according to the SOP, general disqualifications still apply, such as clear evidence of disease, cross-beak, among others.

This is a judged photo contest.

Prizes - At least one 3-month PFM!

To increase your chances of winning, please read the rules before entering.

  2. An entry is 1-5 pictures of your non-APA large fowl hen.

Entry #1
Name: Zuul
Breed: Egyptian Fayoumi, as a landrace they have no standard. I say she defies them. ;)
Color: Autosomal dominant black barring, silver
Age: 5 years old as of April 2025, she's a lil' crusty, but I love her and I'm proud of her. :celebrate

A less serious image of her. No, not the chicken on the ground, the other one.

she's beautiful. But although Fayoumis are often described as barred, actually their plumage is pencilled: the lines are not transverse to the rachis (barring) nor follow round the edges (laced).
