Northern California (Sacramento County) 4 Pekin Ducks abandoned by owner

Hey there,

I am helping a friend whose elderly neighbor lost his home and moved into his car. He left behind 4 Pekin ducks who were his pets. They are about 2-ish years old, and they are thought to be males. There have been no babies over there since he got them, so they're not a mixed-sex reproducing flock.

He also left behind a large colony of quasi-feral young cats who were also his emotional support pets. Some have been TNR'd by my friend and are tamer, and others have not been TNR'd. All are/were dependent on him for care. We've been in touch with some local TNR groups but have gotten nowhere. Any other resources for them would also be helpful.

He provided food for the animals and asked my friend to feed them all, then he drove off crying in his car. The house has been sold and purchased as a flip house, so he waited until the very end before leaving. It's a very sad situation over there.

If anyone is in the Sacramento County or neighboring counties, with a safe, secure place for any of these guys, please let us know.

How friendly are the ducks? I have a small ranch with chickens up by Marysville.

They were his backyard ducks that he would hang out with. I don't know that they are "friendly" like a dog is, but I don't think they're mean. I know all four ducks were always together in a little bunch waddling and quacking around the yard. I'm not sure if he had a pond or just pools for them. Thank you for your reply

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I will let the person know who is taking care of them. If you can please give me your contact info, I can pass that along to her so you two can arrange a time to meet the ducks. She may want a pic of your current duck setup. Thank you
