I would appreciate hearing your thoughts on what breed of chickens we have. Our new little ones are about 3.5 weeks old and hatched at the same time. The lady we got them from is not sure what eggs she put into the incubator, so we have no idea what breed they are. For hatching at the same time they are sure different. The friend who hatched them thinks one may be a Brahma.

Gertie is way taller and bigger all over and has few wing feathers and barely any tail feathers. She just started getting feathers on her legs. We are wondering if Gertie is really Gordy...lol.

Elsa has black skin, heavily feathered legs and feet and a dark beak. She is the more docile of the two.

They both are very energetic and zip around their cage like crazy.

Depending on what breeds are in the flock, they probably have different mothers and may have different fathers as well. So they might not be related to each other at all, despite hatching at the same time.

Black skin is a silkie or an Ayam cemani trait. High odds that one is a silkie mix as they're more common than the ACs.

I have never had a chicken with black skin...the woman who gave these babies to us didn't mention having Silkies...should be interesting. They are goofy looking chicks and oh so cute! Thank you for your input!! Today, they are looking like awkward teenagers. lol
