one of my ameracauna hens is acting very strange, shes sitting around not moving much, one of her eyes is closed, i opened the eye and the eye seems actually shrunken back, like deeper in the socket, it seems clear but still, she usually is active but now she moves only when its really necessary,

i dont know the exact age, but maybe around 15 weeks? she hasnt even laid any eggs and shes not as big as the other layers

Chickens don't lay until they are atleast 6 months old, so no eggs isn't a problem yet. She's still growing, so its alright if she isn't as big as the others. The eye is concerning me... some chickens are born blind in one eye or even both... i'm not sure if this is one of those cases or not. A picture would help alot! I read a article saying the same symptoms, and the lady said it healed after a month.

i dont think she was born blind, she was fine a few days ago, not shes closed one eye and seems a little lest coordinated, that is, when she actually does walk, she just sits around now =O my local feed store doesnt know too much about chickens so theyre kinda no help besides supplies and medicine,

I am dealing with the same thing. I got 3 chickens from a local lady, integrated them in to my flock I ordered from a hatchery. One of the 3 local chickens dies, eye shut just laying around, now it (the illness) seems to be making it's way around my ENTIRE flock!!

I am working really hard not to be ****** at this lady who sold me sick chickens. I have treated them with worm-er (in case it is a parasite) and colloidal silver (a natural anti-biotic) but they are still dying off one by one despite my efforts. So, hopefully whatever your chickens have it is not the same as mine, because now I have to wait until they all die off then find some way to strip the chicken coop and disinfect it!!!

But I would love to know what "it" is and what is going on with them.

Your girl could have merricks as well, so read the link below and see if you see a resemblance.

I'm sorry, but by the sounds of it, your flock has Merricks. Its a deadly disease that causes blindness, paralysis of the legs and other symptons. Read up on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marek's_disease
