Hi,
My 5 year olds hen seemed fine yesterday morning but by mid-day she was hiding under the house. When I finally got her out, she was gasping for air and kept her left eye closed. It has been very rainy and wet for a week and yesterday was the first warm sunny day, so I thought she might dehydrated or egg bound. I gave her water and put her in a crate indoors. This morning she had a big poop so I don’t think she’s eggbound and her eye was open but she kept closing it. I put some vetrx on her head last night and this morning and put a little Neosporin on the eye in case it was scratched. Maybe a sinus infections since she is wheezing a little? What’s the best remedy? I was able to get a photo of her eye and I don’t know if that tiny spot is normal or a tiny parasite? Any help or advice is appreciated.
I don’t have access to a vet and I’d like to try natural remedies before I buy drugs.
We aren’t here in the winter (due to work) so they stay at a friends barn which doesn’t have the sunshine and fresh air in winter. We picked them up a week ago so I’m not sure about her behavior prior to the last week.
