Hello everyone!

I am just getting into raising chickens. I got six pullet chicks from Tractor Supply company, and they are golden comets.

However, there is one oddball that looks a little different from the rest. It has a lot more white on it, and it has always been bigger than the rest, with longer tail and wingfeathers. (See pics)

Is this one just chunky? Or maybe a different breed?

Thanks for the help. Raising these chicks has been so rewarding, and I'm enjoying it immensely!

Golden Comets can have a variable appearance. I think your oddball is within the range of what can normally happen.

Cackle Hatchery has a bunch of pictures in their listing for Golden Comets. The first one I see is a rooster, so ignore him, but if you look through the others you can see that hens have different amounts of red vs. white and different shades of red/gold coloring. I think your oddball is a bit heavy on the white but still nicely within the range of what is possible.

It can be fun to have chickens that look a bit different than each other, so you can identify them as individuals. It looks like that one is going to be easy to recognize that one :)

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Adorable babies! ❤️ I don't know the breed, hopefully someone chimes in soon to help.
