Hey guys! Looking for any help and suggestions possible. I got my order in this morning from a hatchery. Picked them up at the post office this morning. Out of 13 chicks, there were only four alive. I am now down to just one, who seems to be doing fairly well. No feed stores by me have any chicks and the hatchery does not have any replacements for a few weeks. What should I do for the poor little lone chick? She’s eating and drinking just fine for now, but will she be okay alone? I even thought about getting a little stuffed chick, a warmer they use for puppies to keep company. Any help would be so much appreciated!! Thank you!

An unbreakable mirror may help, so the chick can see "another" chick. A stuffed animal can help too, make sure there is nothing on it that can be swallowed or wrap around feet and toes. So sorry this happened. It's hard to say how it will do, you will probably have to spend more time with it, they do get lonely. I loathe shipping chicks for this very reason, and my postal distribution station is just abysmal, mail gets lost and delayed for weeks. Last time I shipped chicks I had 3 DOA and one shortly thereafter. Two more took a lot of effort to save. Most of the issue is the postal service. :hit
I would keep checking the feed stores, you might get lucky. If anyone around you has chickens, you may be able to find some locally, many are setting eggs and hatching, I have 3 week olds I hatched here. If you know of any local places that sell eggs, that is another possible source. Good luck!

Thank you so much for the great suggestions! The mirror is a great idea! I actually have a mirror chicken toy, so I will put that in for her. ❤️
