I have one chick with crazy chick syndrome, a pretty bad case. I'm not hopeful :-(. Now, everyone else is looking sickly to me. Maybe it's that I'm paranoid, I don't know. But I feel like because I have one affected, I should change the management for the others in hopes of preventing it. They're in a Rubbermaid tub brooder on sand, inside with a heat lamp. The temperature is between 80 and 90° depending on the room temperature. Their ages range from two to four weeks old. I feed Texas Naturals chick starter dry (which they pick through and dont eat well) or occasionally fermented along with treats like scrambled eggs and peas and lettuce occasionally. I try to put them out on grass for an hour a day every few days. I started electrolytes plus (has vit e in it) in the waterer yesterday and the affected chick is getting about 0.5ml Nutri drench and yolk four times a day (but I think half of it is going in his lungs thanks to administrator inexperience). What else should I do?

It's just the one chick I had to cull today so far. Classic head between legs, running backward, stiff legs when handled.

It's delivered to my feed store every week and its kept tightly sealed so I dont think freshness is a problem. They just pick through it. I'd go back to Coyote Creek if I could get it; It grew great chicks last year. Not a fan of my current feed. I guess I will have to break down and go buy a bag of Purina today. :-(

Aww sounds like you are on the right track switching feeds then if they just don't like it.

I hope you can get it all sorted out.

I have my fav brand too...it pays to try new brands.
