This forum invites you to dive into the delightful world of poultry photo contests. From dazzling chickens & stunning ducks to elegant geese, regal peafowl, and magnificent turkeys. From the most majestic poses to the silliest antics, there’s a place for every type of poultry photo contest in this forum.
Starting a contest is easy. Just include an end date in your contest title and follow the Online Poultry Show Forum's simple rules & guidelines, and read the FAQ (frequently asked questions)
.
Rules:
- All BYC rules apply: Terms of Service (Rules)
- Poultry photo contests only. Contests for other animals will be moved.
- All types of *photo* contests allowed - You can make your contest like a real-life poultry show, or make it a "fun/silly" contest like "Ugliest Poultry Contest," "Camera Hog, "Naugty Poultry", etc, or you can make a themed contest like "Poultry in Winter", "Crowing Rooster, "Hens on Nests", etc.
- One contest per thread, though you may have different categories. For example, a Camera Hog contest could have any of the following:
- landfowl & waterfowl categories
- male & female categories
- Bantam & large fowl categories
- The thread title should have the "Contest name", and then the "end date." For example: "Camera Hog- Contest Ends 12/31/2024."
- If the contest has rules, list them in post #1.
- Winner(s) must be chosen. Winners may be chose by:
- A panel of judges
- One judge
- The post with the most reactions
- Once the winner(s) are known, a post with the winners' names must be posted in the contest thread. Do not make a separate "winners" thread.
- Prizes are not necessary.
- Threads that just ask members to post pictures of their birds, without judging involved, will be moved to the appropriate section of the forum..
These aren't rules, per se, but they might help you get along with other members better as you make your way around the Online Poultry Show forum.
- If someone already has a contest up, don't create another one with the same subject! Read through the first two pages and see if any contests of the sort you are thinking about creating are already running. If it's already ended, go ahead. But, for example, don't go ahead and start a Silkie Contest if there's already one running. Wait until it ends.
- Be sure to follow the rules the contest creator has laid down before entering a contest. For example, if there is a form to be filled out, fill it out!
- If you enter a bird in a contest and are told that unfortunately it cannot be judged (for example, if you enter a Silkie in a D'uccle contest) then please edit your post and remove the photo. It is hard to be a judge and it takes a good chunk of time to scroll through all those pics, especially if you have slow internet!
- This applies both to contest creators AND judges: don't bite off more than you can chew! Nothing's more agonizing than a contest left hanging, whether the creator forgot about it or they're waiting for that one judge to reply. If you have too many contests on your plate, not only will you be overwhelmed, you also might forget.
- Above all, you should be as courteous here as in other sections of the forum. Whether your bird wins or loses a contest, you can be a winner by being polite and congratulating other members if they win a contest..
