Does anyone have experience ordering hatching eggs from Cackle? I want a few Ameraucanas and it seems like a more cost effective option than doing a small order of live birds, assuming a low 50% hatch rate and 50% hens.

I have, and have been happy with them. In fact I just placed an order with them today, to be delivered July 7. I'm getting Ameraucanas and Dominiques, a total of 15 so I don't have to pay the "small-order" fee.

So if you're wanting oulkets, just order oulkets.

Yes!
Don't get me wrong, ordering eggs is fine, but between the hatchability loss on shipped eggs, the male/female ratio, and the possibility some might have issues or be weak chicks the hatchery wouldn't ship... well your money is better invested in pullets.

Although Cackle is not the cheapest place to get Ameraucana (a local breeder could be better), they do offer all the benefits of a hatchery such as the sexing, some health reassurance, and so forth.

I have not ordered from them before... I got my Ameraucana chicks from a breeder who shipped day olds. There are more breeders than you might think who do so! Just hard to find, usually in breed specific groups.

P.S. BlueHen your typos are so cute! I wanted to keep it. We should rename pullets, honestly this version is better!

Lol, stop it! My typos are embarrassing! I used to be so perfect but now ... my hand tremors are AEFUL amnd I hit keys I don't mean to ...

And double tap so fadt I often don't dvfn realize I havd done so ... I sm leaving thiz post uncorrected so you will see how bad it is.,lol
