Hey everyone!
This afternoon I took home a baby mallard duck. I don’t know much about him other than that a friend of a friend was keeping him, and she had gotten him from someone who was keeping him in an apartment in the city and feeding him human baby food (???????). He was orphaned apparently (don’t know the details). I knew I needed to help right away, and since I have a brooder set up with my current three ducklings I volunteered to take him.
The little guy is adorable but skittish. He’s a crazy fast runner and moves around a lot. He looks pretty healthy other than the fact that his chin and a bit of his neck are nearly bald and it looks like new feathers are just coming in over the exposed skin. I’ll attach pics.
The other ducklings seem to be slowly but surely accepting him, and I hope I can offer him a great life!
