I have the coop half done ill post pics of construction when fully finished. I set up our brooder, its a 55 gallon fish tank, that i put al bubble insulation on the sides to reflect the heat at the chicks. then i put in 2-3 inches of wood chips/shavings.
There was no limit on the amount to buy, the owner was there and helped me pick the ones i wanted. This agaway is in clarks summit, pa very nice place to shop.
I have 2 barred rocks, 2 RI reds, 2 Araucana/Americana. He only buys pullets so we have a buch of new girls. When we brough them home i dipped each beak into their water container, and put food in the feeder, i have a metal feeder which was a lot like the one they were used to. They seem very healthy and are doing all the things that little chicks do. Its so much fun to watch them. My daughter and I (1 1/2) watched them for about an hour today she was laughing and just amazed by them. Our dogs are doing great with them, not that i will let them on the ground with them, they are not barking at them. good first day with them. Thank you all for all the info every post has helped.

wow! We don't have an agway here... sounds like yours is a little piece of heaven! All females, no min. to buy! Wow thats nice! The Rural King here is a min. of 25, and its a straight run.

I know I need more chicks like I need a hole in my head... but still!
Anyway, love the brooder set up! I use a tank, and storage containers. Enjoy you new girls!
