This isn't my first, first egg because we had chickens before but had to give them all away. We got a new flock of all bantams, frizzle cochins, silkies, and sebrights. We'd seen activity in the nesting boxes the past few days but no eggs. I just went to check today and I found our first egg. It's so tiny!! The last picture is it compared to a large grocery store egg.

that’s such a cute little egg omg! i want my own flock of bantam breeds at some point. one of my girls started squatting today so i expect an egg within a week or so, she will be the second to lay out of my three girls! i’m still so excited
We had big girls the first go around. We started with 4 and ended up with about 30. It just got overwhelming for us so we gave them all away to the owner of the feed store. Plus, 3 people in our house can't eat eggs so we had way too many eggs! This time around we decided to go with bantams and we currently have 14. We've got two too many roosters though and haven't had any luck giving them away. If we can give those guys away and end up with 12 I think we'll be ok. They aren't prolific egg layers so we shouldn't be overwhelmed with eggs and 12 isn't too bad of a number as far as taking care of them. There is a fine balance between having what you want and dealing with chicken math. LOL!

oh man, 30 of them! yeah i can imagine how many eggs you’d get out of that.. but i understand what you mean! i’ve been getting around one egg a day for a month, i have three pullets right now but my goal is 7/8 although i know how chicken math works. i have two silkie cockerels so what i wanna do is to get some bantams for them, they are the sweetest babies! i’m sure they would love to have some ladies of their own size. this is robbie :)

Oh, he's a very handsome cockerel!! The two I'm trying to give away are silkies. I love them but we have one my boys are really attached to so we can't give him away. He's a bantam cochin and he's just the sweetest thing. The two silkies, one is white and one is splash, are beautiful but we just can't have that many. They'll have my poor girls worn out. haha!
