Hey everyone!
So I have 2 male quails and 7 females in my aviary - lots of space and hidey holes provided.
I recently swapped 3 males for 3 females, although one new gal has turned out to be a guy. I was originally aiming for only 1 male, but here we are.

One of the new females came to me clearly over mated as she's missing some feathers (not terribly, but enough that I'm keeping an eye on her) on her neck and lower back.

The new male and old male both seem to only be mating with her, none of the other females (that I've witnessed). I don't know if it's a dominance thing between them, as one will go for it and then not long after the other one will do the same.

The female doesn't run away or seem bothered, but I'm worried about her in the long run if they both continue to only focus on her.

Here's a photo of her feather loss.

Should I intervene? There are 6 other eligible ladies available, why only this one?

Thanks in advance!

You might take the boys out for a day or two then reintroduce them. That might give her a break.
Was trying to avoid that as I only just introduced the three new quail 🤦‍♀️ Why do they have to make trouble!

What if they go straight back to her after I've separated them for a while? Is there any other way to dissuade them, or entice them with the other females? What if I sprayed the female with ACV, do you think that might help to confuse the boys?

Spraying her with a vinegar/water mix (it doesn't have to be ACV) isn't something that I've ever tried. It won't hurt to try it, but if you end up with nothing that works, you may have to rehome the hen. At least hens are easy to find homes for.

Yeah ok - I might try the spray first, then try seperating out the males if that doesn't help. And worse case, she'll have to go to the freezer! Such a shame as she has a nice temperament.
