Lately one of my hens has had balding on the head and broken feathers on her back. I only have one roo which is a buff laced polish and I love him dearly. I know he is causing her problems and I can't sell or kill him. I already had to kill my other two roos and it broke my heart. Today it rained and when I garhered my soaked flock, my hen's back had bald spots and her feathers were broken all the way to a centimeter off her back.I can't decide what to do. I want to isolate and let her heal but I dont know how to do that with a quick fix. Is there anything I can do? (I have 8 hens and 1 roo)

the only thing you can really do is watch for infection on the damaged area (and don't worry I've seen chickens pull through even the worst injury) just leave her with the flock and with the rooster I suggest trimming his claws or his "saddle" claw and if that doesn't work I suggest isolating him for ahwile

They make these http://www.hensaver.com/ that can protect her back.
Do you have enough hens for your rooster? Most people on here recommend about a 10 to 1 ratio. Gives the rooster more to do so he doesn't concentrate on that one hen.
Enough space in your coop run?

If all else fails, get rid of the rooster.
