I found worms swimming in my pond! I was hoping someone could tell me if I need to worry about this, these worms look like parasites.

Heres some background info, I have a little 55 gallon pond, it’s unfiltered and I empty it on the trees each week and refill it. My 2 ducks play in it everyday, yet don’t spend long hours in it. Yesterday I found a domestic mouse dead in the pond. It had been dead for some time and I scooped it out. I have also had a pair of wild mallards hanging out with my domestics every day since early spring. The wilds like the pond more than mine and use it frequently. I’ve cleaned the pond many times since the wilds have been coming in and I’ve never seen worms.

The worms were tiny, maybe 1/2 an inch long and thin, bright red. The other worms were about the size of a Tylenol and had a long threadlike tail.

I dumped white vinegar in the empty pond, emptied that, then refilled with water and put 80 drops of grapefruit seed extract in. After checking the water I let my ducks in it.

Any suggestions or warnings or advice for me? I’m pretty grossed out. Also, how do I worm my ducks, or do I need too? I haven’t seen any evidence they have worms but want to be safe.
Thank you!
