"I have a couple of chickens with pasty butts. What should I do? I've tried keeping them warm and always provide clean water. Any tips to prevent it?"

You can trim their butt feathers as well as putting some vaseline/oil on their vents. Is anything else about them odd or just the pasty butt? It could just be the weather.

When you say pasty butt are you referring to chicks with that condition, or do you mean older birds with soiling on their feathers? '

If you mean actual pasty butt, keeping them cooler may help resolve it, as higher temperatures are associated with increased rates of pasty butt.

If you're talking about older birds, then trimming the soiled feathers is what I'd recommend. You might also want to take in a fecal sample to a vet to check for worms.
