My Pekin duckling started this today just over 3 weeks old. Lots of panting
I thought maybe hot but is away from
The heat lamp. Gave her a bath today to help but now she is back to panting.
It’s not hot in the brooder away from the lamp would be around 70 degrees, is that still to warm? The other one seems fine

New duck Mumma worried!

What is the temp inside? At this age I already have my ducklings off heat during the day if the temp is around 70 degrees.
Would have been around 70 but it was warmer before that
Have woken and she isn’t doing it anymore as it cooled more over night so think it was heat fingers crossed just that
She isn’t growing as fast as the other one so it’s a worry

Hello, can you give us a little more information on what's going on? How old is your duck? Is it being kept indoors or outdoors and does it have supplemental heat? How long has it been panting?
I have posted a thing on it somewhere on here. So it started yesterday maybe just an occasional panting but it’s always like fast breathing. My duck is 2 weeks old. It is mostly kept indoors. Well they sleep indoors and they do have a heating mat they can go under if they are cold. They usually sleep on top of it though as it’s pretty hot here. Today they were inside as it was very hot outside. They mostly stay with me all the time unless i’m doing something. I took them outside twice today as they usually go outside for a while in their own but i could tell they were really hot and followed me back inside. It is air conditioned inside and around 18c so i don’t think they are too hot. They are asleep on me right now and i can sort of hear a popping sound coming from it’s nose everytime it breaths
