Hi, I know a lot have pet chickens but I was wondering has anyone ever had a pet pheasant

Also do you think it's possible to have a ring neck pheasant as a pet, in general what kind of temperament do these birds have.

Most pheasant are way flightier then chickens which often keeps them from being labeled pets in the same way as chickens etc... Many pheasants will come eat from your hand, some of the more docile will even jump on your leg etc... But most don't appreciate petting like chickens. I'm sure their are some exceptions and occasionally you get one that is more sociable then most. I have a ringneck hen that got attacked as a chick and lost some of her toes... Lending her to the name Socks after all the bandages I had to make. From all the attention given, I can call her by name and she will come to me. She will eat from my hand and tolerate some petting. She will come on her own to talk to me etc.... That's fairly tame for a pheasant. Some of my Goldens will tolerate a good chin or ear scratch and eat goodies from my hand.... Ringnecks, Goldens, Lady A's and Silvers lend themselves more to becoming "tame".
