Hi, I have a pet turkey I have had since he was about 4 months old. I got
him from a lady who rescued him as a young chick. I am his major caretaker and I really love him. My problem is that ever since the spring he has been attacking me and only me, I have spent so much time with him and I want him to be my friend again. Is there any hope?

Is he your only turkey?

Is he attacking you or trying to mate you? Turkeys are flock birds, he may need a friend or a girlfriend.
I take it he is attacking me, I got him a girlfriend and he could care less. He is always trying to bite me and if I go to pet him he will bite me and fly up and hit me with his wing.

They can get triggered by colors, white and blue, because it looks like another male turkey. Also they become aggressive if they are not getting enough nutrition in their food.
My turkey was attacking me during springtime but he has calmed down after mating season was over. Maybe you can try to be friends with the turkey hen that you got for him, instead ? Hens are less likely to attack people.

Do you think he is protecting his girlfriend from you? He might see you as a threat.
