Phoenix chicken run ground material

Phoenix Arizona chicken run ground material. Hi, I live in Phoenix and building my chicken coop and run. Cleared out the spot which had a lot of gravel and wanted suggestions from locals on what to use as ground cover once I finish building the run. I've seen everything from coarse sand to dried leaves in my research but wanted to find out what my fellow Phoenicians use. Thanks for any suggestions!

I would ask in your Arizona thread.

For our coop we use horse bedding pellets. They free range, so no run, but to suggest to you something, I'd just ask the folks that live there what works best!
