I have five hens, recently a couple have become more aggressive, towards one in particular. I have been trying different thing but with no success. I have never used Pinless peepers, they seem cruel to me, especially going in the nasal passage. Has anyone used them before, am I just overthinking it? They are a last resort for me, but I’m running out of options

I use Pinless Peepers and have been using them for awhile. I typically use them as a last resort as well, as I personally don't like seeing my birds wear them either.

On this one hen, how is her health? How this is a new thing, this may be an indicator that there's something wrong, or she's about to go broody (depending how long this has been going on).
On the bully hens themselves, have you tried separating them from the flock for a few days to a month? This resets the pecking order, and in some cases, it takes care of the issue. What have you tried?

If you do use Pinless Peepers, here's a simple article on how to put them on: How To Apply Pinless Peepers

they seem cruel to me,
So is pecking another bird.

They can really help especially in smaller set ups.

I am wondering how old are the birds? Because these types of posts of aggressive birds tend to show up this time of year, when the chicks bought last spring are approaching full size.

So how much space to you have? Often times what was more than enough space when they were chicks, is not enough space when they are adults.

So with aggressive birds, you can live with the fighting, remove a bird or two - see if the remaining get along better because they now have more space...or try the pin less peepers.

Agreed. I usually both rehome as many as I can and put pinless peepers on the rest to try for a flock reset. I take them off after a month or two. My chickens have a habit of taking them off themselves if I don't.
