I was planning on putting Pea gravel, aquatic plants and maybe some small fish in the pond. It is only a 50 gallon pond. My question is there any plants or fish I should avoid putting in there?

So the ducks are only 2 weeks old right now. Id like to rebuild some plants before they get that big. My goal is to have a 2nd pond outside the coop filled with plants and pump dirty water into and filter water back out.

"Duckweed" is always a good one. Reproduces fast and can be fed to the ducks by just scooping some out and tossing on the ground. It floats.

From the water filtering angle, depending on where you are and how risky you want to be, there are things like floating hyacinth. But think long and hard about that since it is super invasive and in some climates people will burn you at the stake if any of it got into the local waterways. Usually depends on how cold your winters get. If it gets cold enough then there is less risk of it getting invasive.
