I went today and got vitamins for my chicks. (without iron) I read the directions and it says 1ml no matter the age or size of babies. Is this what I use in a gallon waterer for the chicks. Thanks
I haven't used the Poly-Vi-Sol vitamins. I keep this vitamin/electrolyte powder on hand to add to water when necessary. One 8oz packet is only $3.99 and you can make up to 100 gallons from 1 packet.
No, it won't hurt to treat all 6 if that's what you want to do. One or two drops down the beak or a dropper full into a quart waterer. I like to use the poly vits on individual birds and keep the powder on hand to add to the waterer. Normally we add vitamins to the water for the first week after hatch.
This is what I give any of my birds who get sick or look sluggish and need vitamins. I just use a dropper and drop a few drops in their mouth 3 times a day. I want the vitamins to get into their body ASAP (without it being diluted by the water), so I don't like putting in in their water. I'm in my opinion, the liquid vitamins are diluted with water and the strength of the liquid is weakened. With water, they will drink when they are thirsty, so the vitamins just linger in the water. I had a LARGE tom turkey that had a severe respiratory problems with a twisted neck that faced backward and he was not eating or drinking. I really believe that these vitamins helped saved his life.
