I recently got a larger roosting bars. But the builder installed the poop board nearly at ground level so it completely blocked off the space under the roost bars for the chickens to go under (not a big deal since there's only 6 of them and they only go in there to sleep). Pic below:

So I removed the trays and supports and made up something on my own! Pic below:

I covered the bare wood with a clear plastic adhesive shelf liner so it can be wiped off.
You'll see I don't have lips on the edge of the boards (since I'm not THAT handy 😅). So I can't pour a deep layer of PDZ like I had before.

What do I do now? Pour a thin layer of PDZ on the boards? Leave as it is and just wipe off poo? Thoughts?

(Curious if my girls are going to try to walk on it, etc now that it's easy to access and up close to their roost bars. This might also influence what I need to do).

Nice job giving them back some real estate. :)

With our silkies, they might like those roosts you have but choose to sleep on top of the nest boxes which is fine so we didn't make them anything else.

There's no ledge on that, but I do still spread a thin layer of stall freshener (same thing as PDZ, but cheaper). Then I just use a metal sheetrock scraper to scrape the poops about once a week or two weeks. I have one of those wallpaper brushes that are about a foot wide and sweep it sometimes, too.

Good for you for recapturing important space within the coop. I'd just use a layer of the same straw(?) shavings(?) you have on the coop floor for your poop board and pick out poops with a kitty litter scoop. Another suggestion: perhaps chamfer down those 90* angles on the roost bars so they're more rounded and easier on the chicken toes.
