a few weeks ago we were like 100 percent sure she was pregnant firm belly, nipples growing, morning sickness, ect. but now we aren't so sure...
She would be 48 days today but her belly isnt big . I read online that she could carry high but everybody (not vet) says she isnt. I swear I felt movement but maybe its just hopefull hallucination. Its the first pregnancy and the dad was half her size. Is it possible for her to be prego even though she barely grew? All other signs point yes...

PLEASE DO NOT SAY I AM AN IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDER.I AM MAKING NO MONEY, IT IS A ONE TIME THING AND WE HAVE PEOPLE WHO WANT PUPS, PLESE DO NOT BE NEGATIVE...

THANKS

Not sure, I'd say to check with the vet. BUT what I wanted to pass along is that I had a dog who had several "false pregnancies". We knew she wasn't pregnant as she had not been near any other dogs but she'd show all the signs and symptoms except for belly enlargement. Her nipples would get big, she'd lose some hair around them, she'd even make her whelping bed to the point that she tore the carpet up in the corner of my sons bedroom.

After three false pregnancies, she managed to get out of the house by accident while in heat and did get pregnant. She had 7 pups - 5 of which lived. We found great homes for 3 and kept 2. She never had another false pregnancy [we did get her neutered after the litter] and she lived to the age of 13. Her final surviving pup is 10 years old and is waiting for me to come to bed.

Do you think it's possible that this could be a false pregnancy?

We know that she was bred like 3 times, outside tied all 3 because he was so small but he never gets tied and has shown 100% fertility so far with another dog without a tie. She has had a falsie before but this time we were so sure she was prego

she gained almost 2 pounds though and does have a fuller firm belly just not big. she used to have an almost hollow belly but now there is a tiny pooch but only shows when shes on 2 legs...

Take her to the vet and have her xrays done. Or, an ultrasound. That will tell the whole story. If she was pregnant, she may have reabsorbed the babies. It's not uncommon.

She should be checked out at the vets anyway. She should have a thorough exam, checked for parasites, updated vaccinations and vitamins. This is best done before breeding but, if not, should be done during pregancy to make sure everything is going as it should be.

I don't want to be offensive, just want to give you the best advice that I can. Happy, healthy mom and pups are the primary goal :)

I just read about the 'tie'. Without a 'tie' of around 25 minutes, the odds of a successful mating is not very good. If he managed with another dog, that was probably a fluke. I hope you didn't pay for that mating...as, in all the literature on canine reproduction that would not be considered a success.

Beagles have been known to successfully tie labs, if they can do it, so could the dog that bred yours.

ya but he never ties, he has sired 6 litters he outside ties though

I am imagining an outside 'tie' and that doesn't meet the definition of a true tie. I would not be surprised if your dog isn't pregnant. A tie is necessary so that the semen is deposited correctly, far enough into the female to assure that fertilization occurs. Without that tie, this is not achieved very often. I am very surprised that he has sired litters. Have you seen these litters?

Thanks for the article.

I would still take her to the vet...that is your only way of knowing if it is a viable pregnancy or, not.

has the stud been checked for STDs before the mating? That can cause your female to abort the pups and/or die soon after birth.
