This perhaps very well may be my last allowed uploaded photograph.
So I will use this thread to share a personal photo of the odd sizes of eggs we have collected the last year. I usually place the weird ones In the freezer for conversation pieces.
Note that I placed a penny next to the smallest egg, and on the right side of the pic is a normal average egg.
This very well may be my last uploaded pic so show me some of your small or oddly shaped eggs..

your pictures did not upload.I have colected small penny sized ones before to and double yoked.
What causes the penny size egg from an adult hen? I don't think it's the feed or anything health wise.

BTW, I was getting error messages from the cloud
Last night when I pit up the photo. It appears to be posted today

I dont know what causes them guess we will have to do some research.:caf

They are few and far in between. I think they are kinda cool. I filled a carton one day and pretended to try to sell them to a long time egg buyer of ours. Told her we are selling concentrated eggs now. All the nutrition of a jumbo egg but less shell to take up too much space on the frig. She laughed with me.
Like I said.. Great conversation pieces.
Thanks for replying..:frow

Those teeny tiny marble-sized eggs are like a "misfire". They're called fairy eggs or more rudely, fart eggs. Totally a normal thing, usually yolkless. I've had them even a different color, kind of chalky white, from my brown egg layers! They are hilarious. See my profile picture for 5 normal eggs, surrounding a fairy egg.

Hahahaha!! That's great!!

They are caused by a tiny piece of tissue,or an immature ova, breaking loose in the reproductive system...it travels down the pike, the body treats it as a yolk and forms the albumen, membrane, and shell around it.

Here's a great video showing how an egg is formed:
