I have a 3-4 mo old cochin hen that for no reason that I can figure out had a prolapse. After continually putting it back in place (for about 5 days) and having her strain to pop it out each time she pooped, I went for vet help.

My fabulous goat and llama vet put a purse string suture in place. She is fine is all ways that I can tell and has been through this whole ordeal.

What are other people's experiences? Are there very many success stories? Any comments or input would be much appreciated.

thanks,
Bev

As a vet tech, I have seen purse string suturing for prolapses in many animals, including a ferret. Never a hen, but the success rate was always great in my experiences with it. Good luck with yours.
