Pros n Cons of Fake wooden eggs

Pros:

1) Fake wooden eggs are good for showing your inexperienced chickens where to properly lay their eggs.
2) Fake wooden eggs are good for confusing your kids and spouses into thinking they found a real egg.

Cons:

Fake eggs don't keep your dogs from stealing eggs! Even the wooden ones!

Eva loves chickens....all that poop

, spilled feed, and eggs. And now fake wooden eggs that are so fun to chew!

It's really my fault. I guess I trained her to like chickens a little too much!

I've caught her twice stealing eggs. Once when I was cleaning the coop and she snuck one. Once I set the feed scoop on the ground with 3 eggs in it while I locked the coop door. She just can't resist them. At least she's real good around the chickens even though she's bred for hunting birds. The chickens on the other hand mess with the dogs every chance they get! They try and steal the dog food and bones.

Now how did I know, before I even looked at the pictures, that the culprit was going to be a Lab? Could it be? Might it be? Because..........................................

I always used to worry that Jasper would harm the girls seeing as how he was bred, trained and raised to be an upland game bird dog too. And while he's good at his hunting job, he's even better at his Chicken Sitting job.

Since the girls are so fond of taking his food without asking, I try to turn as much of a blind eye as I can to his thieving of an egg or two now and then. He never takes the ones that are in the coop though. Only those that he has found in the toy shed that the girls are trying to hide from me. I figure, if he sniffed it out, he's entitled to it. Finders/keepers!

Great pics! Love your "Golden Girl" Eva. She eats chicken poo too? And here I thought Jasper was just a weirdo!! We refer to that as eating "Chicken Nuggets", by the way!

A Lab what a surprise! Our little girl used to be like that, now she is more calm but still enjoys a good frozen chicken poop!

Actually today is her 8th B-day!
