Hello!
I have four 41/2 month old jersey giants. They’ve all been doing well, getting heavier, one started laying, another squats. But one of them never seems to have much food in her crop. She eats, I see her gobble it down with the rest of them, but she does shy away sometimes. I’ve never seen her be bullied (but I have seen her be the bully), except by the older birds who are not together most of the day. She’s very skittish, too.
Compared to the others, she is maturing slowly. Her comb and wattles are smaller, and only a dull pink to their reds. And she weighs about a pound less than my biggest two (about five ounces less than the fourth one). When she was a chick, she grew her feathers much slower than the others, too. Is she just the runt? She acts normal, poops normal. Should I give her some help? Vitamins or something?
