Hello folks,

A few days ago I bought two young coturnix quail hens. One of which is healthy the other not.
I asked the breeder if they have any known viruses, to which he said no.

I am guessing respiratory infections... But I want to ask you to decide with me whether this assumption is right.

Summary of negative symptoms:
- Difficulty swallowing, eating and drinking
- Slower movements
- Sneezing
- Difficulty breathing (gasping for air)
- Goo coming out of her beak, everything sticks to it
- Choking(?)
- Easily tired, needs lots of rest
- Eyes (half) closed, she seems in pain...

Despite these symptoms she is not noticeably puffed up. She still attempts to eat, drinking, walk around and socialize.

I've added photo's and video's in the files. Hope this helps someone identify what the problem is.

Note:
I do not have aviary veterinarians in my area.
Out of all the quails I have (had), this is the first sick quail. I have no experience on this area.
I've added apple cider vinegar to their water bowls, as someone suggested. No visible improvements.

Files attached:
Video of her breathing with difficulties:
Video of her trying to eat and drink, but can't swallow:

Photo 1 - Hen has beak has breathing issues
Photo 2 - Sticky beak

Please consider watching the videos, let me know what you think. I would love to get advice.
Thank you for your time and effort.

I'm glad you have her isolated. That is the first thing I would recommend. The next would be a vet, but you've already mentioned that there isn't an avian vet in your area.

@007Sean might have some ideas for medication.

I don't know what she has ....could be a respiratory infection or something 'stuck' in her trachea? Could also be that her air sac's have become infected by something?
ACV will not help her at all. If you can get or have Duramycin or Baytril and give to her mixed in her water, it may help, you'll have to weigh her then figure the dosage accordingly.
