hello,

I have Jumbo Brown Coturnix quail. I purchased some clear plastic quail egg cartons... I believe it was from Temu. And the eggs are too big. They still kind of work, if I keep the cartons shut with rubber bands. I wouldn't want to try snapping them shut like they're designed to, because it would possibly break eggs.

It's close enough... where if I would pick out 12 smaller eggs from a bunch, it would work just fine. But if I just started putting them in, there's always 2 or 3 big enough that it would be iffy to try snapping it shut.

I saw these... and they sound perfect.

but... I don't really want to pay 50 cents apiece for them!

Has anyone found a source to buy these for cheaper?

thanks
Dan

Check this thread. There's a discussion about various options.

Edit to add: FWIW, if you go directly to the nwquailfarm.com website, they're currently having a sale and the 50 pack of the one on Amazon is $10.50. They're even cheaper if you go to 100 or 250 packs. I'm not sure about shipping costs, but it's worth a look.

I bought shipped eggs last spring from somebody and they put them in a too small egg carton, 5/15 were smashed and I didn’t dare try shutting the lid on the survivors. Good catch, hopefully it will spare you and or your customers some crushed eggs!

I first got some clear plastic cartons which held 18 eggs. I now also have 12 egg cardboard cartons of ebay. I think they were cheap but not sure.
I have the same problem with egg sizes, some quail lay bigger or smaller eggs than others . . .
