I was curious what the laws for raising quail for meat and eggs are in Oregon? I know the laws for chickens in my area but I can't find anything about quail, except for the propagations laws.

I did some research when I moved up to OR. You can have up to 25 birds per acre (though my city said that if no one complained, no one would care how many you have). Coturnix and button quail do not require permits, species native to north America do.

You are free to raise them for your own consumption. I did not find any restrictions on selling them locally, though you can only butcher meat without a permit for personal consumption.

Thanks for the info, what county did you look up? The office I called had no real answers for me.
