We "adopted" a Pekin duck (hen) when we bought some chickens from an individual. They never mentioned how old she was. She was laying eggs. We have had her now for about a year and a half. She hasn't laid an egg in at least the past 3 weeks. She's acting normal otherwise. About what age do ducks stop laying (laid out)? I've still got a lot to learn about being a duck mama.

My son has four 3-year old pekins. Two are little egg laying stalwarts. After their winter break they started laying again and reliably lay daily. One is a very good layer and is still laying most days. One has dropped off laying over the last month and lays about every 3 or 4 days she does also lay at odd times of the day. She has been known to return to the coop and the nest box to lay during the day. She has also been known to drop an egg behind the aircon unit. It's possible that she is still laying regularly but dropping them in hidden corners of the back yard

I don't have pekins, but I have other ducks and they don't lay eggs all of the time. They can take weeks off. From what I've read, pekins aren't the best egg layers. Other than laying eggs, how is she doing?
Other than not laying, she's doing well. Acting normal. "Talking" to me. She's in a pen (she has a bad leg...had it when we got her) but she let's me know when she wants something...usually fresh greens...and she gets them. She's a sweet little duck.

I don't know if you were able to find a partner for your duck, but my Pekin lost her 3 siblings last fall (different times and unknown reasons) but I put a couple of mirrors in her house and penned area and she is doing quite well (at least it seems that way). She did quit laying after her second sister passed. The male was the last one to go and she didn't seem to mind that at all :)!
