My baby duck is an oorphan i saved her after her mother disappeard i only have one. She seems very happy always wagging his tail and making little chirpping noises . iv done lots of research and he seems healthy but i keep seeing on the internet that if you feed them to much protien it could harm them. Well my duck is yellow and brown and about 2 weeks old. from what iv researched hes one of four diffrent species but his feet are turning brown. So i figure shes a Mallard

Alright lets cut to the chase. My duck wont eat much other then Mealworms. There kept cold so there not so alive. The only other thing hell eat is Bread and thats no good for him. Hell eat oatmeal if i leave it in his box , not alot though. Iv tried Strawberrys, Seeds, Bananas, Lettuce, Dry dog food. I dont have a feed store in my area and the pet stores only sell a mix of cracked corn and sunflower seeds. I figure he can eat that as he gets older but i dont know what to do for now? And if i continue feeding mealworms how many is too much ?

If anyone has any ideas, PLEASE let me know.

If it's a wild duckling it's nutritional needs will probably be different than a domesticated ducklings, but still think just mealworms isn't going to be enough. If you can't get to a feed store maybe try ordering off the interent, it's very important your duckling have more than what you described. but in the mean time take what you have and put it in a food processor mix till crumbly put some warm water on and mix try that and see if it helps, if you can stomach putting the mealworms in with this it might int ice your duckling enough to start eating better. It looks like a mallard but some of my Muscovy ducklings look simiular when ducklings does it have a lil pointed hook at the end of it's bill? here is some info to help hopefully. and Welcome to BYC... also when feeding any thing other than starter your duckling needs grit, it can be plain grit like you buy at the grocery store for caged birds or some kind of plain sand like for a kids sand box, not builders sand. and be sure if making this concoction up for your duckling you give fresh often because spoiled food can kill them. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/750869/raising-and-caring-for-ducklings#post_10611711

Muscovy ducks are a great breed to have, they are quiet ducks and get rather large especially the drakes but make nice additions to family and barn yard. Mine are just pets, but they are worth their weight in gold in summer for the way they take care of bugs, and are quiet comical in their antics, especially the way they wag their tails like a dog and raise the feathers on top of their heads.

I would try the mix of what you have, no bread. but I still think you should try hard to get a feed appropriate for your duckling, you may have to travel a bit but most rural towns have feed stores. Buy an all flock feed since you have the one duckling that way it will take care of it's needs from now till it's an adult and beyond. you can get them in 25 and 50 lbs. and I have seen them in smaller bags at stores like Tractor Supply. Are you in the USA, then you most likely have a Tractor Supply within driving distance. Once you have posted more you can upload more pics and we can tell you for sure if you have a Muscovy, it's hard to tell looking from the side.

I agree, perhaps do a search through the yellow pages. It will stand a much better chance with a complete feed, without a mum directing it to the proper feeds in the wild, your best bet is a poultry feed.

I know she’s an orphan but if you are able to get at least one more, your duck will have a friend. They are very social animals and even though she knows you as her friend, it’s not the same for the duck. As for the food, I think your ducks would benefit from having some starter feed from your local farm store. Hope this is of some help to you.
