I've read that I can give an Epsom Salt Flush to a chicken that may have sour crop, vent gleet, or to just clear out a blockage. From what I've read, I'm supposed to make up a one time dose as follows: 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt in 1 ounce of water. Am I supposed to have my one chicken drink this entire amount, or is this meant for multiple chickens? Can I syringe it? And if so, would I need to syringe that entire amount at one time, or multiple times? It just seems like a lot to get into her in one sitting. And can I offer her food at the same time? Thanks for your help!

The amount of Epsom salts flush you are talking about is to give orally with a syringe over a few minutes to get it in quickly to flush out a toxin or poison. Here in this thread@azygous gives instructions on how to give this flush, but she recommends to try other treatments instead in post 5:

I’m trying the coconut oil treatment first. I also have ACV in the water, which she’s been drinking a lot of. Unfortunately, she’s showing no interest in eating and is acting depressed.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the epom salt solution to work when given orally?
There's no exact timeline.
I've seen a few folks report the flush getting things moving within 10 minutes or so, sometimes it will take longer.
Depends on what the flush is for and what's going on with the hen.
