I tried searching all over but couldn't find anything describing this. I'm worried they might be cracks or micro cracks and bacteria that grew around them. I'm a first time hen owner and my chickens just started laying. I found some of these on concrete and it seems like they are cracked, they are on the blunt end of the egg, so i believe they make have cracked a little on impact, and something dark is growing on the inside surrounding the cracks. I'll probably toss them anyway just to be safe, but for future reference, are these safe for consumption? Also sorry if this is the wrong thread

I don't see anything alarming. I get lightly cracked eggs on occasion, I still eat them, still living.

I think what you're seeing is shadowing caused by lighting in the cracked area. If there's something truly growing in the egg where the cracked areas are that will be visible after cracking them open, & looking at the inside of the shell.

Oh okay, thank you so much.
