In the Brooder

Basically, I put 9 eggs in the incubator, 5 were fertile, 2 hatched and 1 died a few days later. Now I have one little girl left and she's in the incubator temporarily (long story short that's the only way she can stay warm enough until she can go in a proper brooder). I read some other threads and some people said stuffed animals, feather duster, and a mirror, but the only one I could do soon enough is the mirror since it would be a fire hazard for the others. Other than a mirror, is there anything I can do for her? When she had her buddy they were so loud I could barely sleep, but now she's silent. I just want to do anything I can to help her and cheer her up.

do you have a local rural king? they are doing chick days already! you could choose to purchase a buddy chick or 2, a stuffed animal chicken for 99 cents. I also picked up a new box for brooding for 6.99......I give all my chicks a stuffed mama chicken for the first several days!

3x Keep it in the incubator until it's dried, probably can stay in there until the other 3 hatch. What day are they on? Once removed from the incubator, into the brooder is when you'll need the mirror, stuffed buddy & some "heat" ... What do you have to heat your brooder? Heat light? MHP? Hopefully the other 3 will hatch soon.

I was half way through writing a response for a reply when I had to go somewhere, came back and checked and she died. Really bummed since those were the my first chicks of that breed, but I tried my best... Thanks for the suggestions but it's too late now :(

Sorry you lost her. Will you be trying again?
