Yesterday this chicken wandered to the fence of our backyard. I don’t know what breed she is. We’ve knocked on doors but we can’t get a hold of the owners. She appears to be scared and may be sick. I have 8 other chickens and don’t want to risk them getting sick. I’ve tried to feed her but she only eats a little and will peck at me if I get too close. She’s been sleeping on top of our fence. Should I catch her and quarantine her and nurse her back to health or try to find the owners?

I know you posted this months ago, but could you tell me the status of this hen? Exact, 100% same situation, she's not sick but it looks like a hawk got her on the back. She's doing better and is now living freely in the yard with my other 12 girls (not together, just sharing same yard), and she looks just like yours. Mine came wandering here 2 weeks ago, couldn't find any owner. She's also just under 2 lbs, not sure if she's a bantam or just young. Would love to hear how your story ended... Will show you pics if you still have your girl.

Right now, I waiting for her to come back tonight to sleep on my fence again so I can catch her. I’m pretty sure she’s around 3 months old but I’ve never seen a chicken that looks like her. Hopefully I have a happy ending like yours. I would love to see photos!

Definitely catch her if you can - for the first week she was cautious and stayed off on her own. The second week (NOW), she's allowed me to hold her and she's even fallen asleep in my lap! Crazy.

After reading the posts here, I finally found out what kind of bird she was, so glad to have it figured out!

Tell me she doesn't look like the same chicken! Apparently there's not much variation in these types of girls.

I have fallen in love with her, she is so different than any other chicken I've seen, and went from crazy feral to allowing me to hold her and SO QUICKLY, it makes my heart melt.

P.S. I'm new to posting here and didn't realize this JUST HAPPENED! So DO catch her and treat her if you can, and then you can choose whether or not to look for her owners... I looked for my girl's owners, I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking, and someone suggested that if her owners cared, I'd have found them by now. :-(
