So....I wanted to ask...

How well can you raise ducks in say Arizona, or New Mexico? Specifically can they even function there and still live when the heat gets up to 105+ etc etc?

I'm technically a bit north of there and my ducks have been OK up to about 99ish. But I've not had to test beyond that. Where I'm currently at has some pretty awful summer heat, but it still doesn't go past about 98 or 99 for very long. Places like southern CA, AZ, and NM easily could have a whole month at least of 110 ish...

And this made me wonder about raising ducks there?

(Or sheep?)

I'm not sure about mallard-derived ducks in heat but Muscovy should do great up there! They are native to Mexico and Central/South America so they should do wonderfully, I live in Florida and mine do great here!

Depends on the part of the state you're in. I live in the Arizona mountains, where it's rarely over 95. I know people who have ducks, geese and sheep for wool.
I don't see why the temperature would make too much difference for the ducks as long as they have water to swim in and shade.
