I have a young rooster (previously thought to be a hen) who JUST. WON'T. SHUT. UP!

The entire day (sometimes from 2am and even right now) he will crow. Non stop. I haven't had complaints about him yet but I'm sure they're going to come. He isn't aggressive and was hand raised so I genuinely care about his loud a$$ but this is really a problem. Our flock is only 3 birds, they're free range. Is he bored? Opopr is he just a nuisance? I don't know what to do. We go out to shut him up and the moment we turn around he is at it again. Extra food? Crow. Fresh water? Crow. Treats? Crow. Shout? Crow. Chuck water at him? Even MORE crowing.

It's endless. Getting him rehomed is a last last resort. He is beautiful and huge, kind of funny sometimes but it's just unreal. The last thing I want is for him to end up in a pot.

Tips, anyone, please. Enrichment ideas, treat ideas, "rooster jail" ideas, anything

How old is he? It could just be his hormones if he is a cockerel and he may become "normal" once they level out, or that could just be how he is and it won't change. I really doubt that there is anything you can do other than just wait and see what happens
He is a few months old, the girls are the same age and they've just started laying the last month, I'm not sure exactly how old that would make them. Definitely less than a year old. They were very young when we got them. Is it hormones? Is that a thing?

I'm not sure what the general consensus is on these as I've never truly looked into them, but they have collars you can put on roosters that prevents their throat from making the crowing noise, so it's more of a choked off wheeze. Maybe better than becoming coq au vin.
I highly doubt these are available in South Africa (where I live). He is literally crowing as Im typing

Doing a tiny bit of reading suggests that you could probably just use those velcro cable organization ties. If it costs practically nothing and takes almost no time, it might be worth it.

In the past, my experiments with limiting the noise that chickens make has just resulted in me being stressed, frazzled, and still having loud chickens. The one way to shut a rooster or hen up for good is to eat them.

My heart could not handle picking up the axe... I suppose my only option is to get him a new home?

If no crowing is acceptable, yeah. Chances are, he'll end up going to someone who will eat him. you may find the perfect person who just needs a protector, but roosters are a dime a dozen and most people don't want them, so they get eaten.
