I wish there was a category for color, I never know where to put my color genetics questions! Hope this works!

I have a recessive white chicken who has developed one black feather on her head. Is this normal/possible in recessive whites? Both of her parents carry recessive white. I just hadn’t seen another color feather appear on one before.

Shes super cute! What breed/s is she, if you know? She looks at least part silkie.
Thank you! She is a silkie cross. Her parents were a NN black frizzle silkie roo (who carried recessive white) and an olive egger hen who is a cross of blue copper marans, and recessive white silkied EE. So this little one hatched out of an olive egg, and got the silkie gene from both parents!

I thought it was a boy for a long time, but now think she’s probably a girl. She is 4.5 months old. The black feather on the head is a newer thing though. Some more pictures of her, and some pictures of her sister or brother (same parents) who ended up black frizzle satin, with the NN.
