Hello everyone! We're getting some chicks this spring and we mostly use Meyer but unfortunately, the orders went too fast- we don't want to wait till August, and now I'm searching desperately for a new hatchery. We are looking for somewhere we can get Speckled suxxes and easter eggers primarily but a few other breeds too so large selection? As long as it has those breeds it should be okay. Well bred that sells day old chicks and we really need them by April or march or even may

I've had luck on FB Marketplace. Check craigslist too. Maybe your local co-op if they have a community board. I just messaged a bunch of people on FB Marketplace that were selling eggs and asked if they had a rooster in with the hens. Some were selling fertile eggs some were selling just eggs to eat but if they have a rooster I'd take a chance.

I've used Meyer waaaay back when. But haven't used a commercial hatchery in a long time. 6 month backlog....yikes.

My first 3 hens came from a reputable breeder. I was in Tractor Supply and they happened to have Buff Orpington chicks. I got 4 and 1 was a Roo....I did find a home for him. All from TS are thriving. I only wanted a handful of hens and 6 works for me.
