The cockerel Is not a RIR - perhaps an EE or cross of some sort. The pullets may be production reds or hatchery quality New Hampshires - not true RIR.
would it be better to look for an actual RIR roo and put with the hens instead of the rooster thats inside with them?

What's your goal with them?

If you don't have anything specific in mind, is say you're fine.
Main goal was to produce RIR line as we have hens but are mainly mixes and decided to finally work on keeping one single breed but seeing as how the hens are far from that then Idk if its still worth getting a RIR ROO and putting it with the females and produce RIR/mix offsprings at this point

I agree with the others that they do not look like RIR. Maybe like someone else said, EE, or Red Sex Link. Buckeye? One of them that has a line of black feathering looks almost like my male Buff Brahma. I attached 2 pictures of my Ruby, a RIR. Her feathers are all a deep red and her body is kind of compact. The 3rd picture is the Buff Brahma male.

I am planning to get a male RIR and 1 Female and pair them up with the hens and see if I can get a good line going of RIR/ mix unless you think otherwise, want to get as much information before I move forward

It's a solid breed of chicken. I know several people near me that have entire flocks of RIR. I really like the breed. My RIR hen lays an egg 5-6 days a week through the winter and has a great temperament.

Yes I have heard alot about RIR laying during the winter months, which is alao why I decided to start looking into them, but I will most likely just get a pair from a breeder and go from there
