RIR rooster and black maran hen cross bred

I’m so excited! I got me another little blackie! I had another Maran egg hatch and it looks quite different though! The RIR colors are showing through and it almost has a purple tint to it!

Well, lol, my one crazy hen deserted her clutch after killing one, so we decided to grow our flock because I lost a bunch not long ago and I incubated 20..(some yet to hatch…staggered clutch..) Ihave 14 teens, 12 adult hens and one adult rooster. So I’m almost to 40, and I will be done for this year…. However, I have 2 broody hens sitting on 1000 eggs! so who really knows haha! The roosters all but a couple will go! Haven’t heard any crowing yet from the teens so that’s a good sign. However there are a couple teens that I’m about 90 percent sure are Roos. The eggs I hatched came from leghorns, brahmas, RIR and a single black Maran.
