Thanks!Pullet
Awesome, I find hackle feathers so confusing they always get me doubting!I think pullet too
Males don't start to develop pointed hackles until around 12 weeks old. Pullets can have all sorts of wonky and misleading looking feathers as they grow so best way to judge gender is by comb development.Awesome, I find hackle feathers so confusing they always get me doubting!
This is so good to know! Thanks. I can stop obsessing over the others ones feathers now.Males don't start to develop pointed hackles until around 12 weeks old. Pullets can have all sorts of wonky and misleading looking feathers as they grow so best way to judge gender is by comb development.

I have one 12 week old who I was 100% sure was a cockerel because of colouring and feathers. Can I ask if the comb development on him/her says roo or puller?
She's a pullet. Males would have much bigger combs and wattles at this age. Her feather pattern and coloring is also feminine. This is so good to know! Thanks. I can stop obsessing over the others ones feathers now.
