I have a 16 month old Silkie Roo who is slightly lethargic and his crop didn't empty last night. It's hard. Other than massaging, is there a treatment I can do? I've heard metamucil and papaya enzymes?? Thanks for your help!

Give him about 2 teaspoons of coconut oil. Give it in small pieces that he can swallow. Once that is in, carefully syringe him about 20 mls of water. Don't let it go down his airway. Then give him a crop massage to try to break things up.

I would crate him in the coop with the flock and only have water in with him. No food for 24 hours. Give him more water and crop massages every 2 hours all day.

Check him in the morning. If the crop is totally empty, give him a warm mash of his food and fresh water and keep him crated for another day. Check on him regularly.

If his crop is flat in the next morning, you can release him into the flock as long as they have no access to natural forage and only commercial, easy to digest food available. You want to give it a few days to make sure his crop continues to function properly. If not, repeat another day of every 2 hour crop massages after dosing him water.
