My rooster has feathered feet and these red bumps have been on his feet for a while and haven’t fixed so I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to fix his feet?He also started to lose some of his feet feathers when the red bumps appeared. They dont seem to bother him he still eats drinks and walks normally but is there anything I can do to help his feet get better and maybe grow his feet feathers again? I will post a picture of him you can’t really see his feet but I found a picture of another person having the same problem but didn’t get a solution and the feet of her chicken look exactly like the feet of my rooster.(picture of whole chicken is mine the feet ones aren’t mine)btw my roosters feet isn’t as bad as the one from the picture of the other person it’s only a portion of his feet but red bumps still look the same as mine

That looks painful! The feather shafts seem almost ingrown.

@Cryss This is similar to what your fella is dealing with, right? You've seen some success.
Yes! I was going to post some update photos in my thread but I dozed off watching tv 😴

Henry’s leg(s) is still bumpy red but the bumps are not so big and I believe the swelling and redness are reduced. The area has been so red and swollen it’s not really easy to tell. My method had become to every night wash his feet and then his legs with warm water snd dawn dish detergent which I have in a pump diluted with white vinegar. (I won’t say the vinegar/detergent combo has anything to do with any improvement but ya never know. It’s just something I do for my bathroom hand soap.)Then I soak his legs in a bowl or the bathroom sink filled with very warm water and Epsom salts ideally 15 minutes. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Early on I found a couple of white bumps with a bit of pus. Also many follicles that needed to have feathers coaxed to peek through the skin. I used clean, sharp tweezers. After the soak and inspecting for feathers and pus I rinse with warm running water under the faucet. Then I apply a mixture I made of coconut oil and VetRx. (I gently melted a couple tbsp coconut oil, allowed it to cool to room temperature, then dropped several drops of VetRx and mixed before it solidified. I cooled that in the fridge to solidify it then covered it and keep it in a cupboard where it won’t melt.) I just rub it all over the leg especially saturating any leg/foot feathers. I have tried wrapping with vetwrap but that was difficult because of the melting oil and it was difficult to remove because cutting it off made me afraid of cutting tender feathers. He’s tiny but powerful for a banty. It’s painful to touch his legs and he lets me know. But by doing this every day I think I’m getting somewhere. I believe it’s going to take a good chunk of time but it will resolve. Oh, another thing is I usually have to blow dry on low his belly and legs. It’s getting chilly at night. I do treatments at early evening when it’s easy to grab him inside the coop. I’m going to copy paste this in my thread with pictures and a question about those black spots. 👍🏻

My thread is titled “Infected red lines up the leg. What’s happening?”

It obviously happens with some frequency. I wonder what it is...

I wonder if something like Nustock would help?
I’m not familiar with Nustock. I do have Silverquine. The only reason I haven’t used it is that it shouldn’t be ingested. I could wrap it to prevent that but I’ve used Silverquine under very small wounds and wrapped them. It’s very difficult because the Silverquine is a slippery gel and the dressing slides around while trying to anchor it. I’ve also wrapped these legs using my current slippery ointment but that became such an impossible fiasco I quit after 2 days trials. I’m not worried if he picks at coconut oil and VetRx mix. I might have a look at Nustock ingredients.

I've used nustock on chicken bums and legs. It's VERY messy and VERY stinky. It did great on my brody's raw underside and my old hen's raw behind from vent gleet. I just wondered if it'd do the same for legs. I really don't know.

Ok so I’m assuming you are saying you don’t feel the need to wrap dressings over the Nustock. I might have to give it a go.

I didn't, but I honestly didn't even think to check if I should! I mean, duh! Of course a chicken would try to get it off.

I'll see if I still have some and read the packaging.
